What a catalog is
A catalog is a Business-Center-scoped asset storing products you want to promote. You populate it through feeds (URL or file upload), or by letting TikTok auto-generate one from your pixel 3. TikTok supports five catalog types: Products, Hotels, Flights, Destinations, Media Titles.

- Advertiser uploads products into the catalog.
- TikTok binds the catalog to a pixel or app, so it can learn which users engage with which products.
- Catalog Ads render personalised creative — machine learning matches products to users based on interest and behaviour 1.
- Catalog Insights surfaces the resulting trend data back to advertisers — Trending Products, Trending Categories, CSV export 2.
The three ad formats
All three are Catalog Ads — a catalog is always a creative input 1:
- Carousel: catalog images inline. Best for always-on prospecting + retargeting.
- Single video: uploaded/library video + interactive add-ons tied to catalog products.
- Catalog video: product-level signals choose which videos to serve per user.
Where Smart+ fits
Smart+ Catalog Ads are the AI-automated campaign layer on top of catalogs. Same catalog, but TikTok automates creative, interactive add-ons, bidding, and placement 5.
