Y Combinator is a startup accelerator launched in March 2005 by Paul Graham, Jessica Livingston, Robert Morris, and Trevor Blackwell. It runs two batches a year, invests $500,000 in each company, and has funded more than 5,000 startups including Airbnb, Stripe, Dropbox, Reddit, and DoorDash.
The program lasts about three months and ends in Demo Day, when founders pitch to investors. Y Combinator also runs Hacker News, the news site read across the tech industry.
