History
The institution traces its origins to 28 November 1946, when a group of British professionals conceived the idea of a private hospital for Calcutta — a year before India gained independence. This became the East India Clinic, Eastern India's first private hospital. In 1947 it opened two nursing homes on Elgin Road. Construction of the Woodlands Nursing Home began in 1958, and it was inaugurated on 8 January 1961 by Chief Minister Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. See History & Legacy for the full story.
