Jakob Uszkoreit is a computer scientist and the son of computational linguist Hans Uszkoreit. He joined Google's translation group and pioneered the self-attention concept that became the basis for the transformer architecture. He co-authored the 2017 "Attention Is All You Need" paper and later co-founded Inceptive, a biotech company applying transformer-based methods to RNA drug design.
